The 2021 Cup Series came to a very close finish at the Phoenix Raceway on Sunday. In a Hendrick vs. Gibbs Championship the 5 and 9 Chevy cars traded lead spots with the 19 and 11 for most of the race. With Larson leading in the final stage, Martin Truex Jr. had a huge stroke of luck when there was a crash during his green light pit giving him the lead.
Following close behind in the final 30 laps, the 5 team pit crew put Kyle back out in front with their second fastest pit of the season. An amazing team effort to get the Hendrick Cars Chevy their 10th win of the season and the Cup Series Championship. Bringing home Hendrick’s 14th overall championship.
