Congratulations to Chase Elliott, the #9 Team and Hendrick Motorsports for their victory yesterday at Watkins Glen! The victory marks the 1st for 22 year old Chase Elliott and the 250th for Hendrick Motorsports! Exciting finish is an understatement…..Elliott had to battle to hold off defending Series Champion Martin Truex Jr. for the last 15 or so laps! Elliott and Truex Jr. gave the fans at Watkins Glen and the TV viewers one hell of a show! To top it off, 7-time Champion and Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson #48 gave Chase Elliott a push back to pit row / the grandstands after Elliott ran out of gas on his cool down / victory lap! Classy!
