The first race of the Countdown had some great racing and shuffled the leaderboard. Congratulations to Antron Brown (DSR) and Del Worsham (Kalitta) on their victories in Charlotte and taking over the points lead in the Countdown. It was tough day for many of the Countdown competitors which will lead to some great racing in the remaining 5 events.
TOP FUEL
Antron Brown (DSR) took over the points lead with his victory over J.R. Todd (Kalitta) in the Finals. Brown beat teammate Tony Schumacher in the Semi and Todd defeated Leah Pritchett (Dote) in the other Semi.
FUNNY CAR
Del Worsham (Kalitta) picked a great time for his 1st victory of the season, as he too took over the points lead when he defeated #1 qualifier Tommy Johnson Jr (DSR) in the Final round. Great day for both drivers, crews and teams as they now sit 1-2 in the points and are only separated by 6 points. Worsham defeated John Force (driving a Jeff Gordon tribute paint scheme hot rod) in the Semi and Johnson Jr got by Del’s teammate Alexis De Joria (Kalitta) in the other Semi.
PRO STOCK
Erica Enders-Stevens increased her points lead in defense of her title when she took down Vincent Nobile (Mountain View – KB Racing powered) in the Final. Enders-Stevens got by Allen Johnson in their Semi and Nobile got by Larry Morgan in the other Semi.
