Final drag race of the 2016 Mello Yello season is in the books and it was a great year of racing! Congratulations to the 2016 Champions – Antron Brown (DSR) in Top Fuel, Ron Capps (DSR) in Funny Car and Jason Line (KB & Summit Racing) in Pro Stock on the outstanding year!
Pomona was exciting and the Pro Stock Title was decided by 3 points with Jason Line taking the title over his teammate Greg Anderson. Tommy Johnson Jr (DSR) in Funny Car and Doug Kalitta (Kalitta Motorsports) in Top Fuel took home the Pomona Wally’s!
TOP FUEL
Doug Kalitta defeated teammate and #1 qualifier J.R. Todd on a hole shot (.049 seconds) in the Final Round. Kalitta defeated Shawn Langdon (DSR) and J.R. Todd took out the 2016 Champion Antron Brown (DSR) in the Semi-final Rounds!
FUNNY CAR
Tommy Johnson Jr (DSR) had a hole shot (.005 seconds) victory over John Force (JFR) in the Final Round. Johnson Jr took out Courtney Force (JFR) and Force took out #1 qualifier Jack Beckman (DSR) in the Semi-final Rounds.
PRO STOCK
Greg Anderson (KB & Summit Racing) had a hole shot (.028 seconds) victory over 2016 Champion and teammate Jason Line. Anderson took out his other teammate Bo Butner and Line defeated Erica Enders in the Semi-final Rounds.
