Friday’s qualifying was rained out, so the teams only had 2 attempts to get into the field for the races on Sunday. Leah Pritchett (DSR), Matt Hagan (DSR) and Vincent Nobile took the #1 spots headed into race day. Top Fuel and Funny Car turned into the Don Schumacher Racing Show, as 7 of the 8 Semi-Finalists drive for DSR.
TOP FUEL
Antron Brown (DSR) defeated Brittany Force (JFR) to take home the Wally and extend his lead in the Countdown. Force beat #1 qualifier Leah Pritchett (DSR) and Brown defeated his teammate Shawn Langdon (DSR) in Semi Final pairings.
FUNNY CAR
Tommy Johnson Jr. (DSR) defeated teammate and Countdown points leader Ron Capps (DSR) in the Final. The victory jumped Johnson up to 2nd and only 24 points behind Capps in the Countdown. Johnson beat teammate Jack Beckman (DSR) and Capps got by #1 qualifier and teammate Matt Hagan (DSR) in the Semi Final battles.
PRO STOCK
Vincent Nobile drove his #1 qualifying position all the way to the Wally and jumped to 3rd in the standings with his victory over Greg Anderson (KB / Summit Racing) in the Final. Nobile defeated Shane Gray (Gray Motorsports) and Anderson beat teammate & points leader Jason Line (KB / Summit Racing) in the Semi Final match-ups.
