Congratulations to Eddie Knox Racing and the entire PROBLEM CHILD crew on their 3rd straight (4 total) World Championship!
Note from Eddie himself below:
Well as much as I hate to start another letter like this it’s pretty darn fitting after last weekends “world finals”..
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times” We started out the weekend on a high note by turning in the #1 qualifying effort on the brand new boat’s maiden voyage with a 3.58 @ 254 mph, we followed that with a 3.48 @ 254 mph in Q-2. We could have sat out the final session with those numbers but opted to perform for our many amazing sponsors and fans that were on hand. What happened next was very unexpected as the new girl broke the gear box at half track and completely destroyed P.C. #2. The good news is that Daryl came away with only a minor scratch and was released from medical within a few minutes. What followed after that was nothing less than a miracle as my team kicked it in high gear and reassembled P.C. #1 and her equipment in less than 4 hours to be ready for competition come Sunday morning. Daryl dried out his driving suit and put a serious a$$ whoopin on our #1 rival (Spirit of Texas) but cutting a near perfect reaction time and putting a leg on our existing mph world record running a 3.43 at over 260 mph. Needless to say we stood the place on end with those numbers and absolutely broke the backs of our competition by winning our fifth consecutive world finals. I’m not sure I’ve ever had the roller coaster of emotions that I experienced throughout this event. We all shared tears of joy and disappointment but when the blood and sweat dried we once again proved why this team is the best of the best. On a high note we once again re-wrote the history books by winning all but one round of competition in the entire season. When I named the 2013 tour the “Refuse to Lose” tour some thought we were a little optimistic or even arrogant that we could pull it off but 7 out of 8 races is a testament of how hard my guys and gals work and their determination to win. It was a huge financial loss for EKR but as the fast guys always say “quitters never win and winners never quit” we will do our best to rebound and rebuild this off season, the 2014 tour begins today!! Thank you all for the support you have shown us over the years and with a little more hard work and a Brinks truck full of dough we are going to punish them again next year.. This weekend we will be supporting our asphalt cousins/teammates Kalitta Motorsports at their world finals in Pomona so if your around come join us!!
Thank you again and from all of us at EKR have a wonderful, happy, fulfilling holiday season.
Warmest regards,
Eddie Knox
