Weather delayed races Atlanta were completed yesterday and Bryant Racing crankshafts helped Spencer Massey (DSR) take Top Fuel, Robert Hight (John Force Racing) make it 3 straight in Funny Car and Jeg Coughlin get his 1st victory of the season in Pro Stock. Congratulations to all the winning drivers, crews and teams! It was a tough weekend on the cars with Antron Brown’s scary crash and Tim Wilkerson, Jack Beckman and Tommy Johnson Jr all losing the tops of their Funny Car with massive explosions! Thankful that everybody was OK!
TOP FUEL
Spencer Massey took down Doug Kalitta in Final, after getting by teammate Antron Brown in the Semi’s. Kalitta got by Torrence to reach yet another Final round. Special congratulations to Antron Brown, entire crew and the DSR team for getting Brown to the Semi’s after his crash in qualifying.
FUNNY CAR
Robert Hight and crew extended their points lead in Funny Car with a 3rd straight Wally! Robert Hight defeated teammate Courtney Force (who came the closest this weekend in the quest for the 100th victory by a female) in the Finals and Ron Capps in the Semi’s. Courtney had a great day (running consistent all day) getting by the Pedregon brothers in the first 2 rounds and beating Matt Hagan in the Semi’s, before she ran into Hight and in the Final.
PRO STOCK
Jeg Coughlin got his 1st Wally of the season getting by Greg Anderson in the Final of Pro Stock. Greg Anderson looks to be returning to form as he reaches the final in just his 2nd race back from major surgery! Glad to have you back Mr. Anderson. Coughlin defeated Anderson’s KB Racing teammate Jason Line in their Semi-final match up and ANderson defeated Shane Gray in the other Semi.
